Job Summary
The Procurement Officer will oversee procurement activities that support the smooth operation of the maternity centre. The successful candidate will manage supplier relationships, coordinate purchasing processes, monitor procurement performance, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant Tanzanian regulations. The role also involves working closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to secure quality products and services at competitive prices.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing supplier sourcing and evaluating bids before presenting recommendations for procurement decisions.
- Preparing and administering purchasing agreements for goods and services required by the organization.
- Coordinating purchase orders and monitoring deliveries to ensure timely supply of essential items.
- Developing procurement strategies that promote value for money, product quality, compliance, and supply continuity.
- Working with regulatory authorities and logistics partners to facilitate the importation and clearance of goods.
- Maintaining accurate procurement records, contracts, and supporting documentation.
- Reviewing supplier invoices and verifying them against approved purchase orders before payment processing.
- Monitoring procurement performance indicators and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Keeping informed about market trends, supplier developments, and regulatory changes affecting procurement activities.
- Supporting other procurement-related assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- A Diploma in Procurement or Purchasing and Supplies Management.
- A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Professional procurement certification such as PSPTB or an equivalent qualification.
- Excellent negotiation, planning, and organizational abilities.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and attention to detail.
