Job Description:
This volunteer position is ideal for a kind, exceptionally skilled midwife who is keen on continuous professional development and enjoys working with patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with day-to-day clinical duties within the unit, including clinic, wards, delivery suite, and theatres.
- Adhere to documentation and data collection systems, ensuring accuracy in the clinical area, including the ability to fill MTUHA and other register books.
- Ensure clinical waste is disposed of appropriately.
- Provide health education advice to antenatal and postnatal women and families, including family planning counseling and advice.
- Conduct normal and abnormal deliveries independently, including twins and breech.
- Care for high-risk patients, such as those with twin pregnancies, pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, and bad obstetric history.
- Perform assisted deliveries in emergencies.
- Manage obstetric emergencies practically, such as the administration of MgSO4, management of PPH, and shoulder dystocia.
- Work in rotations across all clinical departments.
- Take on any other roles and responsibilities as defined by the management team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum qualification of a Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery or in Midwifery.
- Must be registered by the Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council and possess a current practicing license.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Good understanding of Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council guidelines, policies, ethics, and procedures.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various guidelines in the labor ward, including the management of dangerous drugs, PMTCT-1, and oxytocin administration. Training in CeMOC or Bmoc is an added advantage.
- Knowledgeable on IPC and 5-S.
- Kind, team player, and able to work under minimum supervision.
